Utah Valley Live Concerts Foundation and the City of Payson co-hosted the fourth annual Here Comes the Sun Rock Festival last summer, and it was an unforgettable weekend of music, community, and fun.
Despite threatening skies, the festival remained rain-free, allowing attendees to focus on enjoying the music and company. Fans traveled from all over Utah to attend, with some coming from as far away as St. George and Logan.
The festival kicked off on Friday afternoon with a performance by Payson-based heavy metal band Wreckrage, composed of talented teen rockers. A total of seven bands took to the stage throughout the day, delivering a diverse range of classic rock and roll hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond.
Saturday morning began with a poignant Flag Ceremony conducted by American Legion Post 48. Payson's Mayor, Bill Wright, welcomed everyone to the festival, joined by several members of Payson's City Council. Interestingly, Mayor Wright is a musician himself, playing in a country band, and has been invited to perform at future festivals.
One of the festival's highlights was the youth band showcase, featuring talented young musicians from Olde Main Studios' Real Rock program. Two bands from the program performed, followed by an impressive set from alumni band Lemonfern, who demonstrated the exceptional talent and skills that can be developed through the program.
The rest of Saturday was filled with 13 back-to-back performances, showcasing the best of local music talent. The complete schedule can be found on the attached poster.
Throughout the day, audience members had the chance to win exciting prizes, including:
Concertgoers had an amazing time, dancing, singing along, and partying until the last note. The festival was a testament to the power of music to bring people together and create unforgettable experiences
