Bryan Chapman – Charitable Partners and Music Workshops

Bryan has a deep passion for music and has been performing on stages since age 7, playing a wide variety of music including Classic Rock (keyboards), Soft Rock (guitar, bass), Jazz (guitar, bass), Bluegrass (guitar/mandolin), and Orchestral (bassoon). Bryan has been performing with bands and ensembles all over the Intermountain area and in Europe, performing with bands such as Paradox, NorthForty, KickBack and his current band The Ditch Chickens.

Bryan was on the core team that hosted “Concerts Impromtu” at BYU, created programming and OpenJam line ups for Geezerfest for over a decade; and in his spare time, runs an online community called “Utah Rockers,” connecting rock musicians from all over Utah.

When he’s not performing or helping at music festivals, his job takes him all over the world, helping organizations develop their global learning strategies. Life is better with music!

Alan Wilberg - Sound and Light Engineer

Alan Wilberg – Sound & Light Engineer

Well-known and respected sound and light engineer, Alan Wilberg has been producing high-quality shows for over 35 years for local and national musicians, artists and organizations (comprehensive list at Says Alan, “music moves me and is the record of my life.”

At an early age, he started “fixing things” including a “sound machine” by splicing together 8-track, reel-to-reel and cassette players. At 18, formed Wylder Productions with a close friend, built extensive $2 million inventory of sound and light staging equipment.

He is a self-taught digital electronics engineer, working on movie props and pyrotechnics, such as Beetlejuice and Disneys Meet the Deedles. His expertise in mixing and lighting will turn any event into a memory not soon forgotten. Great entertainment production is his forte.

Dave Smith - Sponsorships

David Smith – Sponsorships

David loves people, and his outgoing personality and substantial professional sales experience is perfectly suited for his position as member of the Sponsorship Committee for Utah Live Concerts Foundation. He is band leader, backing vocalist, and rhythm guitarist for the pop-rock cover band Slow Ride.

David has extensive DJ experience which began at age 15 and continued for years into adulthood. His passion for music is evidenced by his innate understanding of what music makes people move!

David has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Brigham Young University.

Doug Gardine - Sponsors

Doug Gardine – Sponsors

Doug Gardine from Columbus Ohio, is a member of the ULCF sponsorship committee. He helps seek out new sponsors and retain those who are committed to our objectives. He has played in bands as a bassist starting in the early 70’s while in college.

He played locally with the “GT Band for almost 20 yrs. He currently plays rhythm guitar and adds vocals to the group, “HouseCats.” He holds a degree from BYU in Broadcast Journalism and an MBA from The University of Phoenix.

Erik Rushton - Social Media

Erik Rushton – Social Media

Erik Rushton is the bass guitarist and vocalist for the Pleasant Grove based rock band Moe Low. Erik developed his love of rock and roll and guitars while growing up watching his dad, Matt Rushton, perform across the state.

Using his experience managing many social media platforms, Erik enjoys helping brands build their profiles and expand their reach across many social media sites.

John Pilmer - Public Relations

John Pilmer – Public Relations

By day John Pilmer is an award-winning PR pro and CEO at PilmerPR, a Benefit LLC.  But, put a bass guitar in his hands and he transforms into Johnny Blackwater, a call sign he adopted when performing on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise.

He’s taken the stage with Joe Louis Walker, Roy Gaines, This is Your Band, Moe Low, Geneva Road, Ivory Tower, among others. His superpowers include classic rock, blues, country and even Top 40 as need requires. He sings backup and occasionally lead if the rhythm is right. He especially loves performing for his favorite charities and his grandchildren.

Matt Rushton - Web Development and Social Media

Matt Rushton – Web Development/Social Media

Matt is a veteran in the Utah music scene. He has performed thousands of shows in the mountain west with various bands over the years. He is well known for his abilities as a guitarist, singer, songwriter and band leader.

His longest tenured bands have been In Stereo, Shufflin’ Noah and he is currently performing with Moe Low. He has opened shows for such national touring acts as Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Barenaked Ladies, Quiet Riot and Little River Band. He is an experienced Web Developer and Social Media manager. Steve Keele - Artistic Vision

Steve Keele – Artistic Vision

Steve creates logos, posters, t-shirt art, etc

During the day he is employed as a illustrator and computer animator. In the evenings and on weekends, Steve plays bass guitar and sings in 3 local bands.

  1. The Flashback Brothers – Great Classic Rock hits. They have opened for Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Firefall, Orleans, and Ratt.
  2. The Tri-Chevys – Early Rock & Roll.
  3. Midlife Crisis – Rock & Roll band playing upbeat happy tunes.

Terry Taylor - Stage Manager

Terry Taylor – Stage Manager

Born and raised in Provo, Terry enjoyed music at an early age starting his extensive vinyl collection with Blood Rocks – Album II. After destroying several garbage can lids, he got his first drum set in sixth grade.

Under the tutelage of Copperfield’s Barry Jensen, Terry honed his drumming skills. He always has to have the music playing, and has great memories helping out at the Ice House. He played in a few bands in the early eighties, including “Riddle” 84-86. Last several years, Riddle has enjoyed rockin’ together again. Terry has been involved in live music production the last decade.

Tracy Cowdell - General Counsel

Tracy Scott Cowdell – General Counsel

Tracy Scott Cowdell is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the Salt Lake City rock band De Novo. Tracy loves the live music experience. He has an extensive guitar collection. He is a student of music and live performance. He is an amateur rock ‘n roll historian.

Cowdell has degrees from the University of Utah (Summa cum laude) and Brigham Young University. He is a former elected official. Cowdell is a practicing attorney, and a co-owner of the law firm Cowdell & Woolley with De Novo bassist Chad Woolley. Tracy plays Martin, Gibson, and custom EVH guitars. He exclusively uses Marshall amplification.
